Episode 50: Viviana Duncan: Spoken Word Poet and Founder/Host of Stark Reality Open Mic Night in NYC





In this episode, Sean Kneese interviews spoken word poet and founder/host of the Stark Reality Open Mic Night: Viviana Duncan. Viviana talks about how her family immigrated from Buenos Aires, Argentina when she was 10 years old and how she developed a passion for writing and performing poetry as she learned English and "fell in love with the language". She talks about what being an American means to her and how freedom of expression is an important right to her. She also talks about her open mic night and how she got started with it, her experience performing her poetry, and reads one of her poems entitled "Beat" which deals with the topic of retirement and why she believes you should never retire if you are doing something you love. Other topics include the path of discovering yourself as an individual, what separates the artist from the rest of society and more. This interview was recorded at 353 Studios at 353 West 48th Street New York, New York where she holds her open mic night twice a month.
